Suggesting the poetry of minimalism and the rhythm of monochromatic painting, Cloud stretches out, tactile and taut, a 'painting to walk alongside'. Combined with the absorbent substrate and woven form, the title Cloud creates compound meanings that arise in the noun - a condensed white patterned form made of air, able to hold water; the verb - opaque, hidden, ambiguous, troubled, lofty; and the Māori name first given to the islands known as New Zealand – Aotearoa, the beautiful land of the long white cloud.
