From the center of government in Wellington to the historic grounds of Waitangi, HALO rises in the atmosphere which generated and upholds the nation-shaping treaty Te Tiriti o Waitangi 1840. The virtual stone circle is suspended in the legendary space of light between Earth Mother Papatūānuku and Sky Father Ranginui, connecting the ancestral origins of life with new dimensions in matter, time and space. The celestial circle lights a path to and from the sea for the kauri waka Ngātokimatawhaorua, the world's largest ceremonial canoe, carved to celebrate Te Tiriti o Waitangi and sheltered under Te Korowai ō Maikuku. At a trailblazing hui (gathering) of New Zealand women leaders, HALO was activated as a circle of unity in honour of this site of transformation and the future focus of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
